The best reason to visit Oklahoma is to get away from it all and relax. Broken Bow Lake may be the perfect place to do that.

If you're planning on spending a summer weekend in southern Oklahoma, then you're planning on spending a summer weekend trying not to sweat off your suntan lotion. But there is a place on Broken Bow Lake where the cabins are air conditioned, the water is clear, the beds are comfortable, and the guests can feel entirely cut off from the rest of the world. Alternatively, if modern comforts in the middle of nowhere aren't your style, Beavers Bend State Park offers everything from RV and tent stations to luxury cabins with hot tubs and flat screen televisions.

Luxury Cabins

Broken Bow Lake Cabins offers cabins that sleep between 3 and 25 people. Most are air conditioned, and some offer such amenities as DirecTV, VCR/DVD players, surround sound systems and satellite radio. They have iPod docking stations, hot tubs, complimentary movies and games, and even a free round of golf.

If there is a downside to these cabins, it is that, while they feel quite cut off from the rest of the world, they are not all cut off from each other. Some of the larger cabins are popular party places for groups of college students or other young adults. They won't keep you up at night, but their noise may be enough to interrupt a romantic walk or soak in the hot tub.

The cabins on Broken Bow Lake are clean, comfortable and relatively affordable to rent, but they are also clearly manufactured to appeal to tourists. They are built from pre-finished wood that looks so uniform guests might wonder if it is, in actuality, some kind of plastic. If you're looking to experience that real woodsy, back to nature feeling, you're probably not going to get it by renting one of these cabins, even if you opt to leave the AC and TV off.

Roughing It

Travelers looking to go real back to nature can take advantage of one of Beavers Bend's 56 tent stations. They are close enough to the other amenities, like snow cone stands, canoe rentals, and mini golf, that families can camp out and not worry about the kids getting too bored. The lake also offers fishing and hiking, and guests can, if they so choose, just avoid those amenities and enjoy the feeling of real self reliance.

Beavers Bend also features 110 RV sites, so for families just wanting to feel a little cut off, without sacrificing the comfort of their own home, it's no problem to set up at lakeside and enjoy the weekend.

Beavers Bend Marina

Feel like you don't just want to get away from the city for the weekend, but away from the land, entirely? It's not a problem on Broken Bow Lake. Beavers Bend Marina rents all kinds of boats, including an impressive and comfortable houseboat that guests can take out for the weekend, or even for a week long vacation on the water. For smaller groups or families on a budget, the marina also rents out a smaller and more affordable cabin cruiser.

So if you're looking for something to do in Southern Oklahoma during your summer vacation, Broken Bow Lake is the place to go. It's a place that offers just a little bit of everything a guest might need to relax.
